Lose Weight by Cutting Out Processed Foods
A tip from our dietitian: Choose whole, real, natural foods. Focusing on those foods that you find in the perimeter of the grocery store helps with weight loss and makes you a healthier person. Your plate should contain mainly lean protein, a smaller serving of non-starchy vegetables, and a tiny serving of a healthy carbohydrate. Healthy carbohydrates include whole fruits, winter squash, sweet potato, starchy beans.
Note: Until you reach your daily protein goal, you should avoid the carbohydrates and focus just on lean protein and non-starchy vegetables.
Foods that come in crinkly packages such as crackers, cookies, chips, granola bars contributed to weight gain before your surgery and they will do the same after surgery. Think about what foods have always sabotaged your weight loss efforts. Make a list of these foods and avoid them. Don’t buy them; don’t allow them in your house; don’t think that you can now control them. You had stomach surgery, not brain surgery!
