Baked Tofu
Not a fan of tofu? This recipe is sure to win you over! Baking tofu in the oven is a great method to achieve that crispy perfection, without all the extra oil. Perfect for meal prepping and pairing with Asian cuisines!
Ingredients
- 1 (14 oz) block extra firm tofu
- 1-2 Tbsp. Braggs Liquid Aminos or Tamari
- 2 Tbsp. Nutritional Yeast – optional, but greatly enhances flavor
- Various herbs & spices of choice: garlic & onion powder, Italian herb seasoning, liquid smoke or smoked paprika, black pepper, Asian garlic chili sauce for a spicy kick
Instructions
Drain the tofu well and cut into even cubes – cut the block lengthwise, then cut each rectangle (or half) into 16 even cubes. Then add the cubed tofu to a large bowl with the rest of the ingredients and desired seasonings to taste, toss gently with a spatula until evenly coated. Place the cubed tofu onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat, leaving space between the cubes for even browning. Bake on the upper rack of oven for 20 minutes, then carefully flip the cubes over and bake for another 20-30 minutes, depending on how crispy you like it. The tofu will get slightly crispier as it cools. Serve as desired… atop a salad, stir fry or plain – it’s even great cold the next day!
