The most significant change in my life that I’m the most happiest about is my self-confidence. From a very young age, weight has always played a huge part in my life and being able to accept how I looked as a young lady. Being from Louisiana, food played a huge part in my life and the lives of my family members and it stills plays apart to this day. Every family function, get-together, wedding, graduation, or baby shower FOOD is always the center of attention. That type of lifestyle caused me to lose a lot of family members to diabetes, high-blood pressure, and other chronic diseases. In 2017, a blood test came back borderline diabetic and I knew then something had to change not just for me but for my entire household. I started my journey in October 2017 after praying and talking with my husband about having weight loss surgery. Of course, it was a lot of questions that I received from him, but after attending the seminar with Dr. Doucette, Dr. Forman and the nurse, we both knew this would be something I would like to do. I made the appointment and on February 21, 2018, two days after my 40th birthday, I had the sleeve gastrectomy and WE couldn’t have made a better decision as a family. My family has gotten their mother back, my husband has gotten his younger wife back, and Nichole has finally done something for herself. I’m thanking God every day for this second chance in life and happiness. Dr. Doucette and his staff at Alabama Surgical Association has been the best!!! If this is something you would like to do for yourself, make sure surround yourself by positive and a well diverse people as you walk into this new beginning.
